2010 - Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research
The Novo Nordisk Foundation awards a grant of DKK 885 million (€119 million) to establish the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research at the University of Copenhagen. The grant is the largest for research by a private foundation in Denmark. The aim of the Center is to generate pioneering new knowledge about human metabolism as a basis for new approaches to preventing, diagnosing and treating some of the most pressing global health problems: type 2 diabetes and obesity. The Center open the same year and is part of the Foundation’s cluster of research centres.
