2010 - Novo Nordisk Foundation Section for Basic Stem Cell Biology

The Novo Nordisk Foundation awards a grant of DKK 350 million (€47 million) to establish the Novo Nordisk Foundation Section for Basic Stem Cell Biology at the University of Copenhagen. The Section is one of two sections under the Danish Center for Stem Cell Research (DanStem), which addresses basic questions in stem cell biology and seeks to identify the factors that govern the development of different types of cell in the human body with the overall goal of developing new stem cell–based therapeutic approaches for diabetes and cancer. The Section opens in 2011 and is part of the Foundation’s cluster of research centres.
