The purpose is to stimulate GPs to do research within general practice and family medicine, though a flexible stipend that will allow them to combine their work in the clinic with a research project with the ultimate goal that primary care will become more evidence based.
The stipend is awarded only to general practitioners. You can apply for the stipend if you are either a specialized medical doctor within general practice or you are under training to become a specialist in general practice.
It is a prerequisite, that the focus of the project is a clinical relevant theme within general practice and family medicine.
The research project must anchored and administrated, at one of the general practice research environments at the universities in Denmark.
The start date should be after July 1, 2019, and no later than April 1, 2020.

Two research stipends of each DKK 1.6 million is available.
The funding is flexible, so that the applicant can combine work in the clinic with the research project. Therefore the applicant can apply for the stipend to be spend over a period of 2-4 years, with a maximum total budget of DKK 1.6 million.
The stipend cannot be granted for 1-year projects.
The stipend can be used to cover salary (set as a percentage of total) for either the applicant or a qualified substitute to undertake the clinical responsibilities of the GP awarded the stipend.
