Purpose

The Exploratory Pre-Seed Program is a stimulus fund established to accelerate commercialization of research findings and development of novel technologies within the health sciences.

The Exploratory Pre-Seed Program aims to stimulate entrepreneurship and mature research projects from a very early stage towards early start-up companies.

Areas of support

The program seeks to support application-oriented research and to test new ideas that may lead to the development of new medical treatments, disease prevention, devices and diagnostic methods.

Eligibility

The applicants can be faculty members, researchers and students based at universities, hospitals and other knowledge institutions in the Nordic countries.

Projects from incubator development programs are also eligible, however, an Exploratory Pre-Seed Grant cannot be given to a company and must be administered by a non-profit organization.

Simultaneously submission of applications for both an Exploratory Pre-Seed Grant and a Proof of Concept Grant from the BioInnovation Institute is not permitted.

Please read the Information and Guidelines carefully before applying.

Funding

DKK 10 million are available for the funding of up to 20 project grants per year. Each grant can be up to DKK 0.5 million.

Application rounds will be open in spring and fall.

Application process

The application should be completed and submitted using the Foundation’s application system.

It is important to carefully read the Information and guidelines for applicants, accessed via the link below, before initiating the application process, as this document contains the complete call, as well as detailed instructions for the application.
