Purpose

The Novo Nordisk Foundation (NNF) invites promising young, ambitious researchers to apply for a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Quantum Technologies (QT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Biomedical and Clinical Applications. This fellowship is offered as a collaborative programme between the Cleveland Clinic and the Danish research environment that aims to provide an unparalleled opportunity for promising young researchers to engage in cutting-edge research that integrates QT and AI within the biomedical and clinical fields.

Denmark is emerging as an international hub for AI and QT, and this fellowship seeks to harness these technologies to advance biomedical research and clinical applications. The Cleveland Clinic, a global leader in cardiometabolic research, is a prime partner, particularly with its pioneering use of a quantum computer dedicated to healthcare research.

Key Objectives:

  • Research Excellence: Enable postdoctoral fellows to conduct high-impact research at the intersection of QT, AI, and biomedicine.
  • International Collaboration: Foster cross-border collaborations and knowledge exchange between Denmark and the Cleveland Clinic.
  • Career Development: Cultivate a new generation of interdisciplinary research leaders in Denmark and the USA.

Eligibility

A Danish university or other public, non-profit research institution in Denmark must employ the applicant for the entire fellowship period, and this institution must administer the fellowship grant.

The successful applicant:

  • Will have obtained a PhD degree within 5 years of the fellowship start date. Note: Periods of leave of absence should be excluded from the 5 years.
  • Should have a strong background in QT, AI, biomedicine, or closely related fields, and a deep interest in interdisciplinary research.
  • Can apply as a PhD student if the PhD supervisor signs a declaration stating that the applicant is expected to graduate before the fellowship start date.
  • Must have established contact with a researcher at the Cleveland Clinic or a Danish research institution, who will serve as the primary research mentor.

Should have a significant association with the Cleveland Clinic or a Danish educational system or research environment.
