OBS: Please note that the Application Guidelines have been updated for this call.
The Exploratory Pre-seed Program is a stimulus fund established to accelerate commercialization of biomedical research findings and development of novel technologies within the health sciences.
The goal of an Exploratory Pre-seed Grant is to stimulate entrepreneurship and to explore the potential of research findings at a very early stage (pre-seed).
Areas of support
The program seeks to support application-oriented research and to test new ideas that may lead to the development of new medical treatments, disease prevention, devices and diagnostic methods.
The applicants can be faculty members, researchers and students based at universities, hospitals and other knowledge institutions in the Nordic countries.
Projects from incubator development programs are also eligible, however, an Exploratory Pre-Seed Grant cannot be given to a company and must be administered by a non-profit organization.
Simultaneously submission of applications for both an Exploratory Pre-Seed Grant and a Proof of Concept Grant from the BioInnovation Institute is not permitted.
DKK 10 million are available for the funding of up to 20 project grants per year. Each grant can be up to DKK 0.5 million.
Application rounds will be open in spring and fall.
DKK 5 million are earmarked for follow-up grants of up to DKK 500,000 for specific commercialization related activities.
Follow-up grants can be applied for through Novo Seeds once the project has obtained an Exploratory Pre-seed Grant.
The application should be completed and submitted using the Foundation’s application system.
