Our office in India was established in 2022 to support the Foundation’s India engagements and partnership.

Mission in India

The Novo Nordisk Foundation considers India a pivotal partner in our mission to drive science-based impact and tackle global challenges. We work in alignment with Indian government priorities and policies and in close dialogue with key Indian stakeholders and science agencies.

To drive global impact in Human and Planetary Health, we support science-based initiatives and partnerships with key Indian research institutions to advance sustainable agriculture and food systems, combat antimicrobial resistance, promote equity in health, and address the escalating burden of cardiometabolic diseases.

The NNF India office in Delhi ensures the anchoring of Foundation initiatives in Indian institutions and their priorities and promotes Foundation granting opportunities and open calls across the Indian scientific community.

India is rich in its scientific capability, open to international collaborations, and a place where government, academia and industry work together. This is a highly attractive situation for the Foundation."

Novo Nordisk Foundation in India

The India office facilitates the Novo Nordisk Foundation’s grants and partnerships to address global human and planetary health challenges with Indian partners.

The Foundation’s Partnerships in India works to advance lasting, meaningful impact in long-term engagements. Our science-based initiatives focus on cardiometabolic health through education of health professionals and scientific programmes, sustainable food systems with research on climate, agriculture and nutrition, combatting Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) through innovation and science-based stewardship, and innovation in health and sustainability. A special focus of the office is to connect relevant Indian, Danish and European scientific capabilities for greater global impact.

Novo Nordisk Foundation first granted directly to an Indian organisation as part of a collaboration with the office of Principal Scientific Advisor to Government of India and C-CAMP, Bangalore, to establish Covid-19 prepared hospital extensions across Indian states in 2021. The Foundation’s flagship programme in India, Partnership for Education of Health Professionals (PEP), kicked off its first Indian partnerships in Spring 2023.
