In recent years, the Novo Nordisk Foundation has increased its grant giving considerably. In 2024, the Foundation awarded DKK 10.1 billion in philanthropic grants and investments.

To prepare for its future growth, the Foundation is now re-organising its leadership, establishing a new Executive Management team.

“With our new Executive Management team, we are ensuring an even stronger alignment of our strategic themes across our key areas,” says Mads Krogsgaard Thomsen, CEO of the Novo Nordisk Foundation.

In addition to Mads Krogsgaard Thomsen, the Executive Management team will comprise six members, representing the Foundation’s key areas of focus. The members are as follows:

Health: Professor Flemming Konradsen, Chief Scientific Officer.
Planetary Science & Technology: Professor Lene Oddershede, Chief Scientific Officer
Portfolio, People & Partnerships: Søren Nedergaard, Chief Portfolio Officer
Finance & Operations: Erika Söderberg Johnsson, Chief Financial Officer
Legal & Governance: Pelle Munk-Poulsen, Chief Legal Officer
Corporate Affairs: Steffen Pierini Lüders, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer
