Novo Nordisk Foundation Supports Science Conference

The Novo Nordisk Foundation has awarded grants totaling DKK 3.5 million (€469,000) to support the EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF) 2014.

ESOF is the largest multidisciplinary conference dedicated to scientific research and science policy in Europe. The purpose of ESOF is to create a platform for discussing research-related challenges. In2014, the conference is held in Copenhagen and hosted by Denmark’s Ministry of Science, Innovation and Higher Education.

The Board of the Novo Nordisk Foundation has awarded a grant of DKK 3 million (€402,000) to the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Higher Education towards planning and hosting the programme track on “The Healthy Society” – one of the eight major societal challenges on which the conference is based.

The Board has also awarded a grant of DKK 500,000 (€67,000) to the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences of the University of Copenhagen, which is arranging a communication project to coincide with the festival “Science in the City”, which I held parallel with ESOF.

Today, Denmark’s Ministry of Science, Innovation and Higher Education has announced that is has received grants from seven Danish foundations for the holding of the ESOF conference.
