Young Scientists Are Getting Prepared for the Business Industry

The bioscience industry is an important force driving Denmark’s economy. Ensuring that this industry continues to develop requires innovation and that entrepreneurs be able to establish companies and create new businesses in existing companies.

The BioBusiness and Innovation Platform (BBIP) is an educational platform created in partnership between Copenhagen Business School, the Technical University of Denmark and the University of Copenhagen. The Platform aims to enable students to integrate the biosciences in business and entrepreneurship.

BBIP offers an MSc programme in Business Administration and Bioentrepreneurship based on support from the Novo Nordisk Foundation and several leading bioscience-based companies in Denmark. The prerequisite is a BSc in biosciences, but many students use the programme to supplement an MSc or PhD degree.

BBIP provides an ambitious international educational environment based on close cooperation between leading companies in Denmark. Several companies have played an important role in establishing and contributing to BBIP, including Lundbeck, Novozymes and LEO Pharma.

The grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation will fund up to five annual scholarships totalling DKK 500,000. Candidates with a PhD degree within biomedicine or the life sciences (or those about to receive one) can apply for a scholarship to the programme secretariat, which awards scholarships to the most talented students. The Foundation is also providing up to DKK 200,000 annually to enhance the quality of the programme by recruiting distinguished international lecturers.
