Join us for a session in the company of three exciting scientific communicators sharing their thoughts and experiences on genomics with focus on data access, ethics and applications.
Genomics – Data Access, Ethics and Applications
This lecture explores the dynamic intersection of ethics, data governance, and clinical applications in genomics. The session opens with a talk on the ethical considerations of precision medicine, followed by the Danish National Genome Center sharing insights on data ownership and the national genomic infrastructure. The program concludes with a case study from PREDICT – Center for Molecular Prediction of Inflammatory Bowel Disease, highlighting the practical use of genomic data in research and clinical practice.
🧭 Professor Ayo Wahlberg – Professor of Anthropology, University of Copenhagen
Ayo Wahlberg is a leading scholar in medical anthropology whose work examines the social, ethical, and cultural dimensions of emerging biomedical technologies. His research offers key perspectives on how precision medicine and genomic innovation shape patient experiences, practices, and ethical debates.
🌍 Dr. Bettina Lundgren – CEO, Danish National Genome Center
Bettina Lundgren leads national efforts to integrate genomic information into healthcare. Her work focuses on establishing robust data governance, ensuring responsible data access, and advancing the use of genomics to improve patient outcomes and strengthen clinical practice.
🧬 Professor Tine Jess – Director, PREDICT, Center for Molecular Prediction of Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Tine Jess is a specialist in precision medicine and molecular prediction. In this session, she presents a case study demonstrating how genomic data can be translated into clinical insights, drawing on PREDICT’s work to advance individualized care for patients with inflammatory bowel disease.

The Science Cluster Lectures is a series of open lectures for all researchers and others interested in bioscience, biotechnology and health. Every 4 weeks, on Thursday evenings, you are invited for lectures on themes with a general interest for the Novo Nordisk Foundation Research Centers and bioscience researchers in general. Often there will be a cross-disciplinary focus.
This will be a hybrid lecture with the possibility of attending both virtually and physically. Please note that we have a limited capacity for how many we allow to participate physically, and seats are allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Yes. We take oral questions from physical audience and written questions from virtual participants.
You are very welcome to join the ‘Novo Nordisk Foundation Science Cluster’s Linkedin and here on our website. There you will find information about upcoming lectures, and much more.
If you arrive by car, you can park for free in front or at the side of Tuborg Havnevej 19.
