Purpose
Biological ageing and metabolic dysregulation are closely linked. The purpose of the call is to deepen our understanding of the molecular mechanisms behind this connection, with the vision to improve our ability to predict, prevent and potentially treat age-related metabolic dysfunctions, thereby enhancing human health span. To support this purpose, the call includes funding for 1) Nordic cross-border collaborative research projects bridging metabolism and ageing research and 2) the establishment of a Nordic metabolic ageing research network.
Eligibility
The research project must be collaborative with a unifying vision and focus on understanding of the molecular mechanisms behind the connection between ageing and metabolic dysfunction.
Geography and institutions
The research project must be collaborative with a unifying vision and focus on understanding of the molecular mechanisms behind the connection between ageing and metabolic dysfunction.
- The administrating institution must be a university, hospital or other non-profit research institution in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, or Sweden.
- The main applicant must have her/his main affiliation at a university, hospital or other non-profit research institution in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, or Sweden.
- The co-applicant(s) must have their main affiliation at a university, hospital or other non-profit research institution in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, or Sweden.
To foster Nordic collaboration, it is a requirement that at least one of up to two co-applicants are anchored at a university, hospital or other non-profit research institution in another Nordic country than the main applicant.
Main and co-applicants
- The main and co-applicants must be independent researchers, who have already established their own line of research or are in the process of establishing their own line of research.
- Applications from Ph.D. students and postdocs will not be taken into consideration.
- Salary for the main and co-applicant(s) cannot be covered by this grant. The main and co-applicant(s) must be guaranteed their salaries for the entire applied project period.
- The main applicant and co-applicant(s) must be equally participating and must each receive a substantial part of the grant budget (must be clearly specified in the application budget).
