Ancient Environmental Genomics Initiative for Sustainability (AEGIS)

Beskrivelse

Climate change poses a critical threat to biodiversity and agricultural productivity. By learning from the past, we can foster more sustainable food systems. This is why the Novo Nordisk Foundation, in partnership with Wellcome, has committed up to DKK 585 million to the Ancient Environmental Genomics Initiative for Sustainability (AEGIS). This pioneering project, led by evolutionary geneticist Professor Eske Willerslev, will leverage environmental DNA (eDNA) to explore ancient ecosystems and species adaptations to help develop climate-resilient food systems.
