In occasion of the World Tuberculosis Day, 2024, we share the story of Bhakti Chavan, who overcame extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis (XDR-TB) and now advocates for patients as a member of the World Health Organization Task Force of AMR Survivors. Tuberculosis (TB) remains one of the world’s deadliest infectious diseases. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is making TB even harder to treat, as it has developed resistance to many effective drugs, leading to significant antibiotic use.
