New Chair of the Committee on General Practice and Family Medicine Research

Professor Mogens Vestergaard is the new Chair of the Committee on General Practice and Family Medicine Research of the Novo Nordisk Foundation.

Mogens Vestergaard, professor and consultant in general practice and family medicine at Aarhus University, has been selected as the new Chair of the Committee on General Practice and Family Medicine Research of the Novo Nordisk Foundation.

Mogens Vestergaard succeeds Niels Bentzen, Adjunct Professor, Department of Public Health and General Practice, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Trondheim, Norway and General Practitioner, Uggerslev General Practice, who is retiring from the Committee.

“I am pleased and proud to be selected as the Chair of the Committee on General Practice and Family Medicine Research. The Foundation’s postdoctoral fellowships play a very important part in retaining talented researchers in general practice and family medicine research. I look forward to helping the Foundation choose the candidates who will play their part in shaping the future of general practice and family medicine research”, says Mogens Vestergaard, who works in the Section for General Practice of the Department of Public Health of Aarhus University.

Morgens Vestergaard takes over as Chair on 1 January 2015.

AWARDING OF POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS

The Committee on General Practice and Family Medicine Research awards postdoctoral fellowships in general practice and family medicine in Denmark. The fellowships focus on treatment, disease prevention, basic research in general practice and family medicine and the administrative organization of this field.

The Committee was established in 2002 and consists of a Chair and two other members. The Board of the Foundation appoints members for a 5-year term based on nominations from the Committee.
