The Foundation’s support will go towards medical supplies, essential health services and food provisions for people in need.
Responding to the UN’s flash appeal for humanitarian aid, the Novo Nordisk Foundation has granted up to DKK 15 million to the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Food Programme (WFP).
Each organisation receives DKK 7.5 million in support of their life-saving emergency response centred in Gaza which is mandated by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
“We are witnessing a serious humanitarian crisis that affects a large number of people across the region,” says Flemming Konradsen, Senior Vice President, the Novo Nordisk Foundation.
He continues: “WHO and WFP are both strong international, non-political organisations with which the Foundation has previously collaborated in situations of humanitarian crisis. They will also play a crucial role in this effort, having the capability to deliver medical supplies, essential health services and food provisions.”
The Foundation’s grant is in line with the efforts of the Danish Government, which is supporting the humanitarian response in Gaza and the West Bank.
WFP and WHO do not endorse any product or service.
