The below points are meant as general guidelines. Exceptions may occur for specific calls, in which case it will be mentioned in the call text.
Novo Nordisk Foundation does NOT normally support:
- Private ventures, individual endeavours, or projects with direct commercial interests and activities
- Sponsorships for attending conferences or scientific meetings, except those related to areas specified on the NNF website
- Cultural events including theatre, concerts, art exhibits, movies, music production and/or distribution, or book publishing except those related to areas specified on the NNF website
- Salaries, scholarships, or other support for personal training or travel, except for funding opportunities through NNF open competition programs.
- General maintenance, operation, or administration of institutions, organizations, and institutes
- Expenses for construction or renovation of buildings, facilities, or monuments
- Running expenses for clubs or associations including sports, activities, and youth clubs
- Personal living expenses, including expenses for recreational purposes, non-professional travel courses, seminars, and social purposes
- Applications/projects that have been submitted to, evaluated and rejected in an NNF Open Call Programme, will receive an administrative rejection if submitted as an unsolicited application in more or less same format and with same scope
Unsolicited applications related to the bullet points above can expect an administrative rejection.
Grant and projects involving use of products where Novo Group companies have a commercial interest (e.g. anti-obesity medications) must be in accordance with the Foundation’s Guidelines for Philanthropic Collaboration with NNF-Controlled Companies, as well as internal conflict of interest policies.
