Nominate a Teacher for the Novo Nordisk Foundation Prize for Upper-secondary Schoolteachers

In 2016, teachers Louise Lund Bækgaard (left), Allerød Gymnasium, and Lone Als Egebo, Hasseris Gymnasium, were awarded the Novo Nordisk Foundation Prize for Upper-secondary Schoolteachers. Now you can submit the name of a teacher to receive the Prize in 2017.

Do you know a teacher who engages students, teaches in an original way or in some other respect has made a significant contribution to teaching biology, chemistry and biotechnology in one of Denmark’s upper-secondary schools?

Now you can submit the name of a teacher to receive the Novo Nordisk Foundation Prize for Upper-secondary Schoolteachers, which is awarded in collaboration with DANSK BIOTEK, the association representing the biotechnology industry in Denmark.

The aim of the Prize is to spotlight the excellent professional standards in teaching the biological sciences in upper-secondary schools in Denmark. The Prize is accompanied by DKK 250,000, divided into a personal award of DKK 50,000 and DKK 200,000 for the teacher’s school, for developing the teaching of biology, chemistry and biotechnology.

Two Prizes are awarded annually: one for eastern Denmark and one for western Denmark.

Students, parents, colleagues and principals may all nominate one or several candidates for the Prize. The candidate’s principal must make the nomination on a nomination form available from DANSK BIOTEK.

A special Prize committee established by DANSK BIOTEK selects the Prize winners.

The deadline for submitting applications is 16:00 (CET) on 27 February 2017.

The Prize will be awarded at the annual meeting of DANSK BIOTEK on 4 May 2017.
