The Novo Nordisk Foundation is donating DKK 2.5 million to Danmarks Indsamling 2019 (Denmark’s Charity Fundraising 2019).

Danmarks Indsamling 2019 is a nationwide fundraiser supported by the Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR) and 12 of Denmark’s largest humanitarian organizations that benefits low- and middle-income countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. The organizations work to lift these countries out of poverty and to promote the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

With 12 projects in 12 countries on three continents, this year’s fundraising is focusing on the world’s disadvantaged girls.

”Children have a right to be children – to play, to go to school and to be safe. In Denmark, most people take it for granted that this is the norm. But this is definitely not the case for children, and especially girls, in other parts of the world. The 2019 fundraising focuses on girls who need help to get a good start in life,” says Anna Rørbæk, Press Officer, Danmarks Indsamling.

Hanna Line Jakobsen, Head of Social and Humanitarian Grants, Novo Nordisk Foundation, says: ”It’s fantastic that all Denmark is joining together to support girls around the world. The help we are sending today will contribute to girls growing up and becoming strong women who influence the society in which they live. This fits the Foundation’s vision of contributing to improving people’s lives through better health and education and developing a sustainable society.”

The 12 organizations participating in Danmarks Indsamling 2019 are: CARE Denmark, Danish Refugee Council, Danish People’s Aid, DanChurchAid, Oxfam IBIS, Médecins Sans Frontières Denmark, ActionAid Denmark, Plan International Denmark, Save the Children Denmark, Danish Red Cross, SOS Children’s Villages and UNICEF Denmark.

Last year, the Foundation also donated DKK 2.5 million to Danmarks Indsamling.

In 2018, Danmarks Indsamling raised DKK 78.8 million for homeless children, thus reaching a total of DKK 1 billion raised through the years.
