Novo Nordisk Foundation hires Flemming Konradsen as Scientific Director of Global Health

Flemming Konradsen is currently Professor of Global Health at the University of Copenhagen and has more than 25 years of research and programming experience in environmental health and global health. He is responsible for several research projects and programmes aimed at building research capacity at the university level in Asia and Africa and is significantly involved with educational programmes in eastern Africa and the Nordic region.

In addition, he has worked for international research organizations, universities, the United Nations, development NGOs and national disease control programmes.

With his expertise and vast experience, Flemming Konradsen will further strengthen the efforts of the Novo Nordisk Foundation within global health and contribute to the Foundation making even more research-based, high-quality grant decisions in the future,” says Hanna Line Jakobsen, Senior Vice President, Social & Humanitarian, Novo Nordisk Foundation.

Global health is an interdisciplinary science that concerns transnational health issues, challenges and solutions for improving public health and achieving health equity.

In my new role, I will have a unique opportunity to bridge research and programming to make systemic long-lasting improvements,” says Flemming Konradsen.

Flemming Konradsen will remain in his current position at the University of Copenhagen for 40% of his time, thereby remaining closely connected with the newest developments in his field of research.
