Launched in 2018 as a science education initiative under the Novo Nordisk Foundation, LIFE was established as an independent not-for-profit foundation in December 2020.

The purpose of the LIFE Foundation is to contribute to improving science education, training, and research and to reinforce motivation and interest in science among children and young people in Denmark.

In close collaboration with companies, research communities, and schools, LIFE develops science education courses in which students carry out enquiry-based learning related to some of the greatest societal challenges the world faces – from eradicating hunger to sustainable transformation in industry.

The theme-based science courses support general education and are made available free of charge to interested schools throughout Denmark. The courses are targeted at primary, lower, and upper secondary schools.

LIFE has its own campus situated in Lyngby, where schools can visit and make use of its state-of-the-art laboratories. School classes can also book one of LIFE’s Mobile Lab trucks, which will visit their school. In addition to this, the LIFE Foundation has a digital learning platform, MY:LIFE, with educational material supplementing the courses.
