The Committee on Endocrinology and Metabolism implements the Foundation Board’s granting decisions for the support of basic and clinical research within endocrinology and metabolism in the Nordic countries.
The Board has decided to grant DKK 170 million (€22.8 million) annually via the applications evaluated by the Committee on Endocrinology and Metabolism. The grant budget is allocated to project grants (DKK 80 million), and Novo Nordisk Foundation’s Research Leader Programme Grants (DKK 90 million).
The Committee additionally implements the Board’s granting decisions for the Jacobæus Prize and Novo Nordisk Foundation Lecture – the latter in collaboration with the Scandinavian Society for the Study of Diabetes.
The Committee on Endocrinology and Metabolism was formally established as the Nordic Research Committee in 1989, but its history dates back to 1923. The Committee comprises a Chair and members from Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. The Board of the Foundation appoints the Chair and the other members in accordance with the general rules covering the Foundation’s committees.
