The Committee on Endocrinology and Metabolism implements the Foundation Board’s granting decisions for the support of basic and clinical research within endocrinology and metabolism in the Nordic countries.
The Committee on Endocrinology and Metabolism awards up to DKK 339 million (€45 million) annually in open competition grants. The grant budget is allocated to Project Grants, Novo Nordisk Foundation’s Research Leader Programme Grants, Steno National Collaborative Grant, Steno Collaborative Grants and Non-Diabetic Endocrinology Collaborative Grants.
The Committee also implements the Board’s granting decisions for the Novo Nordisk Foundation Nordic Diabetes Prize, in collaboration with the Scandinavian Society for the Study of Diabetes.
The Committee on Endocrinology and Metabolism was formally established as the Nordic Research Committee in 1989, but its history dates back to 1923. The Board of the Foundation appoints the Chair and the other members in accordance with the general rules covering the Foundation’s committees.
