Our current food systems cannot feed a growing world population with food that is sustainable, healthy and nutritious. We need to change people’s diets so that alternative protein sources replace animal protein. Such dietary change should also focus on improving human health and preventing noncommunicable diseases.

Paradoxically, one third of food is lost or wasted globally after the crops are harvested. This unnecessary food waste strongly affects the sustainability of our food systems and the health of the planet.

Our goals are to:

  • Promote research and technologies leading to the production of sustainable and healthy food based on plant and microbial protein
  • Reduce food loss in production and distribution
  • Promote changes in people’s diets and reduce food waste
  • Promote the development of relevant incentives, regulations and legislation that can accelerate the restructuring of our food systems
