Challenge Programme 2018

For the application round of 2018, the Challenge Programme sought to support outstanding scientists working within one of three selected themes. Up to DKK 360 million was awarded for grants of up to DKK 60 million each.

Theme 1: Protein Chemistry – Structure, Function and Application

The specific challenge of this theme is focused on understanding the fundamentals of protein biology, such as biophysical properties, enzymatic function, structure, and further estimate effects of any form of protein modification. In order to tackle this ultimate goal, programmes seeking to gain an overall understanding of proteins per see, or families of proteins, or specific types of proteins and their function are welcome.

Theme 2: Pathophysiology, Diagnosis and Treatment of Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis

The specific challenge of this theme is focused on understanding the pathophysiology of Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis and the development of improved diagnostics and treatments for Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis.

Theme 3: Understanding Obesity at the Cellular Level

The specific challenge of this theme is focused on understanding the highly complex network of cellular and molecular events that affects adipocyte metabolism and growth.
